It’s a pity, because the sound could really elevate the disappointing graphical experience of the monster battles. The sound also doesn’t seem to be any better than the one on PS Vita – it’s just as flat and loud as it was before. Otherwise, the locations and monster fights don’t look too promising, filled with too much blurriness and distracting camera movements.

You can, of course, set the game to the highest resolution and play at 60 FPS on PC – this will slightly improve the experience.

The monsters look basically the same as they did in original version. God Eater 2: Rage Burst is a game of collecting, upgrading and grinding.

The character customization also looks great with an almost infinite amount of design choices. On the other hand, the Central Hub in the game doesn’t look too bad, and it is actually the only area in the game that looks to be graphically upgraded. This means that image quality is underwhelming. So, when you play the PC version, you will notice that this game strongly resembles a game for handheld consoles.

It is important to note that Rage Burst was originally a PS Vita title, and it had to be transferred to PS4 and PC with upgraded graphics. This prompts you to quickly change the shapes of your weapon, thus making the gameplay really dynamic. God Eater 2: Rage Burst plays faster than Monster Hunter due to a constant flow of new Aragami within a given mission. You can also empower your character with Blood Rage ability that adds extra damage to your hits. These weapons are customizable and can be greatly upgraded by leveling up. You carry a special weapon – God Arc – that can transform into many different shapes, both melee and ranged. It’s quite simple, but the game is not there to tell some complicated story – it’s there to let us kill a lot of monsters. The story follows a group of God Eaters, a special unit called Blood that hunts down the Aragami, monsters that devoured all humanity. Let’s see if God Eater can actually compete for its place on the market. So, it’s a good time to compare this game with other titles in the same genre. The latest expansion for God Eater 2: Rage Burst is now available on PS4, PS Vita and PC.

The games in the God Eater series follow the same line of Action RPG mechanics, but have a few distinct features of their own. You can even dash and when you press square, still continue with Round Fang).īut yeah, I think God Eater 2 is about ‘improvements game’. The damage from Round Fang is small, but you can ‘chip’ enemies safely from far (after the first R1+square, you can keep pressing square to do it infinitely but it takes stamina. From Round Fang, we can go to Vertical Fang (triangle) -> Cleave Fang (R1+square), which are overhead attack and ‘finisher’, which deal good damage and still ridiculously long range. Its special attack (R1+square) is ridiculously large radius attack Round Fang. Supposedly it’s in the demo (although I thought the main character would get this ability after the new story).Īt first I played with Short Blade as usual, but I gotta say I’m enjoying the new weapon Variant Scythe. The trigger is apparently some ‘vow’ system. I also haven’t reached the new gameplay Blood Rage yet, which is supposedly a very powerful Burst state.

Even though my full game hasn’t arrived, I’m practically playing it now.Īt first I’m worried about the trophies, but apparently if you went over certain story trophies in the demo, in the full game you can just unlock them by going to theater and then view the appropriate cutscenes. They also don’t keep certain systems locked. I gotta say, the demo is very long O.o I still haven’t beaten it yet, and I’ve already reached difficulty 3 missions.
